Liemarvin Bonevacia is an example of determination. The 32-year-old sprinter who was born and raised in Curaçao walked a long road to success. What started as a hobby became his passion and turned into a successful journey. His first international competition as an athlete was at the age of 22 at the Olympics in London.

Hensley Meulens, also known as ‘BamBam’, is the first baseball player from Curaçao to play in Major League Baseball. At the age of 18, he started his international career and has gained the admiration and respect of Curaçao ever since. Even though the participation in shooting sports has grown steadily through the years, these kinds of sports receive little or no local news' coverage. The shooting sports are not as popular as baseball or football, but it is important to realize that our little island definitely has the potential to create more professional athletes in this sport.
